Meet our Trainers

Our trainers aren’t just practitioners with great intentions.  They have been vetted and certified by the prevailing certification bodies in their areas of expertise.  Our Scrum Trainers are certified by Scrum Alliance and our Kanban Trainers are accredited by Kanban University.  Both of these certifying bodies put more effort behind making sure only the best trainers can represent them, than most university PhD programs put toward making sure only the best become doctors.

Rick Waters

Certified Scrum Trainer, Certified Enterprise Scrum Instructor

Rick founded Wisecrum Associates, wrote the satirical book Troubleshooting Scrum, pioneered Scouts and Scrum, and created Scrum.Vet.

Rick has a long history of training and coaching others.  His new focus, of bringing Veterans into the workforce with a leg-up on some of the more established Agile ‘professionals’, has him dedicated to making sure we are all starting from the same place, when it comes to addressing Agility.

Rick brings a plethora of experience to the table when he trains.  He has worked in many different industries as an engineer, and as a leader, with experinece in mainframe operations, Eletronic Trading, Financial Services, Digital Map Data, Big Data, 3D Modeling, Audio/Video Engineering, and the Entrepreneurial space.

Rick’s current training focus is Scrum, but he also teaches non-certified Kanban classes.

Marcelo Lopez

Accredited Kanban Trainer, Certified Scrum Trainer

Marcelo has worn the PO and SM hats interchangeably for the needs of his employers.  He has even put it on with his kids when they needed it (that’s an experience).

Marcelo authored, and is currently one of the co-authors of,  the original Spanish language translation of the Scrum Guide on https://www.scrum.org/Scrum-Guide. The first non-English languge version of the guide!  Check out “Scrum en Breve“, my Spanish language version of “Scrum in a Nutshell”, an excerpt from “Exploring Scrum: The Fundamentals” by Dan Rawsthorne and Doug Shimp.  Marcelo has also worked on the translation of “Exploring Scrum: The Fundamentals” to Spanish.

Find Marcelo on the Scrum Alliance website, or the Scrum Practitioners group on LinkedIn.  He’s pretty active there.

Education is in Our Blood

The patriotic blood of our trainers may run Red, White and Blue, but education is in our veins as well.  We don’t just think we know what we are teaching, we practice it, and have been recognized in the world-wide Agile and Lean communities for what we share with our students.
